LO2- Lighting equipment and settings
Three point lighting system consists three elements. These are back, key, fill light. Back lighting is where you place the main source of lighting behind the subject to show their features and make them stand out from the background. Key lighting is the main light source in a video and this is placed opposite to the fill light. The fill light is there to fill any unwanted shadows on your main subject in shot.
Light emitting Diodes (LED) are used in filming as that are easily battery powered meaning they are easily portable and can be versatile where you put them. Also they will allow your camera to capture all the colours of scene easily. These are used on cameras as it can help photographers have lights ready wherever they need the camera.
Hydragyrum medium arc-iodide lighting (HMI) is used mostly on set when filming with sunlight. This makes filming in daylight easier as the lights that they are used can compete with the brightness of the sun. as they emit ultra violet light. To turn on HMI lighting you need an electrical ballast which ignites the metal-halide gas and mercury vapour the bulb.
Chiaroscuro is where there's a high contrast in lighting so there is majority pitch black but there will be a little part lit up revealing parts. This can create a strong individual effect as it can reveal parts of the face or future of someone. Chiaroscuro is used in cinema to make the scene look more dramatic and build tension
