LO5- Be able to edit cinematic quality footage

Image
The sound effects that were used in this film were; we changed the audio quality in the scene in the pub. This was to make the audio more clear when the characters are talking to each other. We also added music to the intro and the outro. This is so there is no awkward silences when the intro and outro is being played. We have used different lights in the editing. The lighting is clear throughout so you can see the characters when they are the most important part of the scene. The transitions in the short film are sharp establishing shots. This is so the audience know the location of the characters and so their is no awkward pauses throughout. Also, the editing is non continuity editing. This is because the location of the film changes throughout so the conversations end. When the scene is film in one location the editing is continuity editing so a conversation doesn’t cut.  We filmed our footage with cinematic quality equipment such as the DSLR camera and an iPhone X. Using this f...

LO3: Be able to plan the recordings for a cinematic quality scene

Image
The purpose of the short film is mainly to educate but can also be used to entertain. The product we are making is a short film. The film is about a teenager who is bragging about his sexual experience but it backfires because he catches an STI. The genre of film that we are producing will be a social realism film.  The plot of the story is that, at the beginning of the story, the main character goes to a party with his friends with an aim to have sex with as many people as possible. He goes into college to tell all of his friends his sexual experience and bragging about them. He then goes to the doctors and the doctor explains that he has tested positive for an STI. The theme of the story is coming of age, this is because this situation only occurs when you're in your teenage years an above where the characters become adults. This is because the character will learn a lesson about this experience for the future. The characters will be; the main character will be Jack: Jack will be...

LO4- Be able to record cinematic quality footage

Image
For this scene of my short film, the lighting that I used is fluorescent lighting. This is because the indoor location in which I filmed this scene used fluorescent lighting. The lighting also works to manipulate the  characters on the camera because it blacks out the background so the audience are focused on the characters and not by any background props. For this scene of my short film, I used natural lighting. This is because this scene was an outdoor scene. The outdoor natural lighting was perfect to manipulate the camera. This is because the camera settings were changed in order to make the scene look perfect. I did this by making our film 30 fps and making the light exposure consistent so the natural lighting looked the same throughout. For this scene in my short film, the lighting that I used is a tungsten halogen lamp. This was to light up the background. Also the lighting helps understand the scene. This is because it helps see the props which is important in this s...

LO2- Lighting equipment and settings

Image
Three point lighting system consists three elements. These are back, key, fill light. Back lighting is where you place the main source of lighting behind the subject to show their features and make them stand out from the background. Key lighting is the main light source in a video and this is placed opposite to the fill light. The fill light is there to fill any unwanted shadows on your main subject in shot.  Light emitting Diodes (LED) are used in filming as that are easily battery powered meaning they are easily portable and can be versatile where you put them. Also they will allow your camera to capture all the colours of scene easily. These are used on cameras as it can help photographers have lights ready wherever they need the camera. Hydragyrum medium arc-iodide lighting (HMI) is used mostly on set when filming with sunlight. This makes filming in daylight easier as the lights that they are used can compete with the brightness of the sun. as they emit ultra violet light. To...

LO1: Camera mounts

A tripod is used so you can record footage without having to physically hold the camera. To set up the tripod, you need to extend the 3 legs equally to whatever height you want to camera to be at and use a tripod mount to attach the camera to the tripod.  Drones are used to take Ariel shots as they can fly in the air. Drones have a camera already attached so you need to turn on the device and use a controller to manipulate movements.

LO1: Camera lenses

Fisheye  lenses  give a very wide angle view out of the  camera  to show full landscapes.    This gives a sense of proportion as it can capture something in a 180-degree field of view A telephoto lens allows people to take pictures of a zoomed in    without any blur or grains . This lens is the best lens to use for landscapes photos at 18mm while at 35mm it is good for street view photos and at the short telephoto length of 55mm makes it good for portraits.   A macro lens is a special type of  camera  lens that can work with very short focusing distances, taking sharp images of very small subjects.    Portrait  lens has the focal length and aperture to take good looking portrait photos. Although this the best lens to work you can also use several other  lenses .

LO1: Sound equipment

A boom pole is used so that the camera crew can use a microphone without actually having it visible in the scene. A microphone is attached to the end of a pole which is placed in a position where the actors audio can be picked up.  A microphone is needed to hear the actors voices clearly which will make for a much better product. Microphones pick up sounds and turn them into electronic signals to send them through a recording so speech is clear to understand.
